Brooks Atkinson Marquee Ornament (2024 Collection)
Brooks Atkinson Marquee Ornament (2024 Collection)
The Lena Horne Theatre has had a few different names since it opened in 1925 - but the one that stuck around the longest was "Brooks Atkinson." Named for the famed critic who tended to his reviews with love and care, Atkinson wrote the book on Broadway. (Literally...it's called Broadway.) For our 2024 collection we're adding one marquee ornament from Broadway's past to sit alongside our other four creations.
Our Brooks Atkinson Marquee Ornament is made of a base of golden wood, complete with glittery marquee letters overlaid with more gold wood - all assembled by hand. Each ornament is handmade in NYC by our Green Team and imbued with Broadway love and magic!
When Green Team Owner Tim began Broadway Up Close in 2010 he utilized the beautiful theaters as the framework to tell our stories. He marveled at the singularity of each of the 41 Broadway marquees ever since, and so in 2020, he began a 10 year mission to recreate every one.
Each year we will be releasing four marquee ornaments - interpreting them both literally and figuratively for a keepsake that will bring these beautiful theaters to life even if you're not standing in Times Square!
For our 2024 collection we are featuring five marquees: the Broadway, the Music Box, the Shubert, the Vivian Beaumont - and one from the past: the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
